On October 15th-17th, at Camp Hazen YMCA in Chester, CT, Connecticut DeMolay hosted our annual Brotherhood Weekend! As we arrived on Friday, the Connecticut State Officers started preparing and setting up for what was soon to be an historic weekend! At 7pm, the Connecticut State Chapter opened for the purpose of Initiatory Degree.
We are proud to say that Sleeping Giant welcomed in a new member at our State Degrees! Afterwards we enjoyed some good pizza made by the camp and continued on with our nightly program, which was a mass game of Rebels vs. Imperials manhunt!
Next morning, at the crack of dawn, 20+ members woke up to participate in this year’s polar plunge!
This is the most we have seen attempting to swim in these cold waters at any Brotherhood Weekend in quite some time, and what a way to kick off the Saturday! After enjoying a great breakfast put on by the camp, we transitioned into a freetime block that also had sports available such as Nukecomb and Kickball, as well as Ritual Excellence judging. Afterwards, we transitioned into our afternoon program which consisted of our yearly campground activities! After that, the entirety of Brotherhood Weekend congregated at the tennis court for a Chapter vs. Chapter Double Elimination Dodgeball Tournament! After a grueling effort, the final stage was set, and we would like to congratulate Fidelity/Pawtucket Chapters of Rhode Island DeMolay for taking home the win! And a special announcement to Pawtuckets newest member Caelan Oliver for receiving MVP for absolutely carrying Rhode Island to victory!
After dinner, the Connecticut State Officers setup for the DeMolay Degree. After the DeMolay Degree, State Master Councilor Sebastian had out of State Dignitaries speak which included, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Arkansas, Oklahoma, The International Congress Secretary Andrew Caster, and The Grand Master of DeMolay International Dad Vince D’Aguanno!
We then all congregated at the dining hall for a relaxing movie night to wind down from an excellent weekend.
Sunday morning, the membership all packed up and said goodbye to one another, marking the close of Brotherhood Weekend 2021! We all hope everyone had a blast and we can’t wait for Brotherhood Weekend 2022!
